From Flotilla Commander, Dean
Jackson

The kids are going back to school and the air feels like fall is just around the corner. It won’t be long before the water temperature will begin to drop and we will have to think about mustang suits to do patrols. If you need to get your currency maintenance up to date, I would suggest doing it right away.
For all Flotilla Staff Officers you need to revisit the goals that we set for your Area Of Responsibility (AOR) and see how things are shaping up. If some work is needed in your AOR let Dave and I know what we can do to help. As a Flotilla we have accomplished a lot this year, however there is still work to be done and together we can succeed.
Flotilla 83 continues to grow with three new members thus far this year. There are several other folks that have expressed an interest in joining us. If you know someone who would make a good Auxiliarist please encourage them to visit a meeting. Our long-term goal is to have seventy-five members by 2010.
The Search And Rescue Detachment committee is still working on a location for us to have a station on Claytor Lake. We would like to have a location established by the end of the year.
Thank you for all you do for Flotilla 83, whether it is just being a dues-paying member or someone who goes out on patrol every weekend. This is a tremendously positive organization and I know we will keep up the outstanding work we have all been doing.
Let’s have a great and safe fall.
Thank you,
Dean Jackson
